Have you ever had a prayer answered?

prayer topics seem to be the bandwagon of the moment so i'm jumping on!

seriously, has anyone here asked for something specific in prayer and actually gotten what they asked for?

what convinces you that you wouldn't have got it in any case?

Yes,

When I was searching for answers, I knew something was wrong in the "org" but didn't know what. I had been inactive for several years, had stopped going to meetings and didn't know where to turn. I can't put into words the way I was feeling, everything in my life seemed to be falling apart. I sat down at the computer and prayed for some guidance, some insight on what was going on. I needed to know what to do with my life, go back to the KH or not.

I had never before did any searches on JW's (I obeyed all the "societies" directions on using the internet). I typed "Jehovah's Witnesses" in a search engine and came upon this site (and a couple of others). I didn't join here right away (I lurked for a couple of years), but joined another site and worked through my emotions.

I would say that is a prayer answered (btw - it would be the first prayer that I can think of that was answered).

The WTS teaches that all non-JWs worship Satan directly or indirectly.
That all non-JWs will be destroyed forever without any hope of a resurrection, including babies and small children.

I'm feeling this in my own family. My mother and sister know that I will not be attending any more meetings etc. I can feel that our relationship is not the same. I used to talk on the phone with my mom, and I could never get off without talking for atleast an hour - now after about 15 minutes she says "well you must be busy - I'll let you go now." And when I see her in person there is just not the same closeness there anymore.

She always used to say to me when I wanted be friends with someone from school "Do they love Jehovah?". At the time I'd say no because they weren't JW's, but now I realize that there are people out there that have a much greater love of God than most JW"s that I knew.

well it looks like my plan to fade might not work after all.

yesterday afternoon i was in my office when two elders stopped by for a visit.

they came into my job and began to question me in front of my boss and my new assistant!

I'm sorry you had to go through that!! What were those men thinking??? That is some serious harassment! All I can do is shake my head.

I hope they think about things afterwards and realize that their actions put "Jehovah's" name in a bad light. That is a big no no!

Take some deep breaths and try to relax! Remember it's Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was a funny little story!! Thanks for posting that.

I know how the guy feels. This year I wasn't invited to the Memorial by my family (we always travel out of town to attend theirs), and when my mom mentioned the "Special" talk she talked about how "we" were going (meaning her and my sis), didn't ask if I was going, didn't ask if I wanted to come to theirs.

I guess it's finally sunk in to them (after some painful discussions) that I don't want to go. I'm not sure how I feel/felt about not getting the invitation. I should be happy, but the feelings are mixed.

It's a transition period I guess.

Anyone do Charity work?????

there is a few things that i am involved in, and have been for quite sometime.

i feel that it is important to raise my children in this type of environment, so that they see outside of the box, and not be so closed minded on our surroundings.

many are in need, and it is easy to close our eyes and forget.. my main charity work will always benefit children.. this weekend i have gathered many things from my house such as kids clothes, shoes, jackets...and i bought many blankets, cook ware, along with money etc... this will all go to easter seals.

I volunteer at a riding stable that teaches developmentally challenged/physically challenged children to ride horses. It's amazing to see these children when they are on those horses. They really come out of their shells and are so excited and proud of themselves. It's an awesome experience.

Got a Visit Yesterday

i was at home last night, fixing some 8-track tapes, when i got a knock at the door.

the wife is out of town, so i'm wondering who the hell is knocking on my door.. i opened it, and there was my mother and another lady from my old congregation.

this lady is one of the few genuinely good people in the congregation.

Medical "treatments"

as i sit here with pinkeye farmcat eyes (this is one of the worst things i've ever been through lol it's horrible!

please send me 'aw merf, get better soon' vibes and a cyber hot-toddy.

OMG Juni - that is one yucky picture!!

Murfi - you poor thing. Pink eye is highly contagious - it spreads so easily in schools/daycare etc.

It seems like JW's are really into the "alternate" treatments. I know my m-i-l has tried just about everything. She goes to an iridologist (sp?) that is a brother. He sells her all kinds of pills - it's just a big money making scheme. I know of JW's that have travelled to Mexico for cancer treatments, another brother that brewed the tea from mushrooms for his lung cancer - didn't save them.

I heard that there is supposed to be a talk at the DC about "alternative" medical treatments.

I don't think all alternative medical treatments are scams, but people do have to be careful.

INACTIVE....FOR ALL TO SEE!!!!!!

my husband and myself have not been to a meeting for over 4 years now.. we learnt last night from my sister that our names are still pinned on a list of inactive publishers on the notice board at the back of the kh along with about 15 others!!!!!.

i'm totally gobsmacked having considered ourselves successful faders!!!!.

what the hell do they think they're playing at?!!

I was "inactive" for quite a while before I stopped going to meetings. If my name had been up on a list for all to see I would have stopped attending meetings long before I did.

Maybe they should leave the list up - maybe those on the list still attending will decide they don't want to go to the meetings anymore and face the shame and embarassment.
